Conditional Green  Card

Conditional green card is a residency permit to stay in the United States permanently. It is also known as a conditional permanent green car or just a green card. You get a conditional green card if you apply for it after marrying a US citizen or by making a financial investment. The conditional green card is issued to make sure there is no marriage fraud or other rule violations to secure a residency in the United States. As long as you meet the terms and do not commit and deportable offence you will be able to convert your conditional green card into a permanent green card. Once you complete your two years you are qualified to petition for the removal of conditions from your conditional green card. You have to file the petition 90 days before your conditional green card expires. Ify ou do not do that and your green card expires you lose your permanent residency. So be sure to apply for removal of conditions 90 days in advance using the following four steps: 1.     File the form I-751 if you got your conditional green card by marrying a US citizen or by filing the form I-829 if you got your conditional green card by making an investment/entrepreneur.

2.     Send the front and back copy of your conditional green card along with the petition.

3.     Pay the USICS filing fees.Visit their website to find the current and accurate fees.

4.     Submit proof of eligibility. In this case you need to show that your marriage is real. Maybe you guys had a child together or made investments together, have joint bank accounts, bought real estate together, traveled together, have photos etc.Similarly for financial investment you need to show that you made the investments and followed the guidelines around investing.

And that’s it. This is all you have to do to move from a conditional to permanent green card.
